First Impressions Chanakya IAS Academy
I had selected a lot of institutes before coming here. What made me choose Chanakya IAS Academy is the reputation of this institution, highly experienced faculty, and an excellent track record of producing successful candidates. The lively community of UPSC aspirants in Delhi was also a pretty good motivation for me to be in the capital.
Faculty Expertise and Teaching Methodology
A teaching faculty forms the backbone of any coaching institute, and Chanakya IAS Academy definitely does not have an excuse for this element. Most of the members had deep knowledge in their respective subject matters, and most of them have had years of teaching experience. General Studies (GS) – I must say that the GS classes have really been part of the heart and soul of UPSC preparation. But despite the vast syllabus-from history to geography, economics to current affairs, etc.-the faculty made each lecture interesting. The faculty then took the theoretical concepts applied them to real life, which was very important for the Mains exam.
Study Material and Resources
The primary strength of Chanakya IAS Academy was its study material. Every subject was well elaborated in well-organized note style. The material is not just a set of facts, but has been created to develop a more profound understanding of the topic.
Current Affairs – The current affair preparation has been really good. In the UPSC exam, national and international issues are very important. Chanakya IAS Academy used to send the current affairs compilations at regular intervals. These were concise in nature and only the point highlighted, so it was easy to revise.
Test Series and Feedback
The test series provided by the Chanakya IAS Academy was something that most came out as a plus during my preparation. They conducted both Prelims and Mains test series. (IAS Coaching Experience) The mock tests were really tough and matched the UPSC pattern closely for me. It gave me an opportunity to get accustomed with the pattern of the UPSC, time constraints of writing answers, and techniques for writing answers.
Mains Test Series – I found out that I was much more benefited in the Mains test series which contained detailed feedback. Mentors used to review my answers, where both the strength and weakness on the answer were pointed out to me. This kind of continuous feedback loop helped improvement in my answer presentation, which is vital in subjective Mains examination.
Tests for Prelims – The Prelims test series was as tough in every way. Though often the questions provided were tougher than those asked in the exam, it made me better prepared for all the events. Regular testing kept me on the right schedule with my studies and also helped me measure my improvements.

Personal Mentorship
Chanakya IAS Academy was excellent when it came to mentorship programs. It provided all students with a mentor right from the preparation period, through to help the student throughout the process. It was particularly helpful when I was having one of my low phases, all those aspiring candidates are bound to face sometime or the other. Infrastructure and Learning Environment
The physical infrastructure at the academy was just okay but nothing brilliant. (IAS Coaching Experience) The classrooms were tidy, although they would have been much better had they been well maintained; this is judging from the long hours students spend listening to lectures. However, the learning environment was commendable at the academy, given the sense of camaraderie developed among students and because of the interactive nature of the classes.
Library and Study Halls
The most striking feature of Chanakya IAS Academy is its rich library. Freedom to access a good library was a big plus as this provided for quiet study space and the availability of a wide range of reference books apart from the study material provided.
Peer Learning, The academy environment encourages peer learning. (IAS Coaching Experience) During my training sessions, I interacted with other like-minded candidates with whom I could discuss my doubts and share study resources. Group discussions on current affairs became a regular source of enrichment.
